| Welcome to SKILERS HAVANESE home on the Internet. We like to say, "Best friends are bred here." We are dog breeders in Iowa. We raise one litter a year in our home. If you want a fun dog to own, the Havanese is the right choice. Our dogs are for pets, show-dogs, agility and rally. These dogs are very intuitive. They make great therapy dogs. One of my pups went on to be a Therapy Dog who alerts on grandmal seizures. The Havanese is playful and a delightful addition to any family. They are very smart and trainable. The Havanese is AKC recognized in the Toy Group. They originated in Cuba where they were held for centuries by the aristocracy. The Havana Silk Dog is an AKC registered Havanese who meets the
strict criteria for full registration with the Havana Silk Dog
Association of America. Elgibility requires passing all health testing
required to receive a CHIC number from Orthopedic Foundation For
Animals (www.offa.org); and all dogs must pass a conformation
evaluation by a certified evaluator of the HSDAA; have a DNA on file
with AKC; as well as, be certified chondrodysplasia free. All Havana
Silk Dogs at this time, meet the standard of the AKC Havanese but
not all Havanese can or will meet the criteria for an Havana Silk
